Haley Duschinski named senior advisor for global affairs

Ohio University Interim Executive Vice President and Provost John McCarthy has named Dr. Haley Duschinski as senior advisor for global affairs, effective May 18, 2026.

As senior advisor, Duschinski will provide strategic leadership for Ohio University’s global engagement efforts, overseeing the Office of Global Affairs and working across colleges and units to advance international partnerships and initiatives aligned with the university’s Dynamic Strategy. Her portfolio will include International Student and Scholar Services, and she’ll continue to ensure we meet our compliance functions while helping our international students to thrive at OHIO.

“Dr. Duschinski brings exceptional vision, experience and leadership to this role,” said McCarthy. “Her deep understanding of global partnerships and her commitment to student success position her to lead Ohio University’s international strategy at a critical moment. She is well prepared to guide this work and elevate OHIO’s global impact across the University.”

Duschinski will continue to serve as director of the Center for International Studies and director of the School of International Studies and Languages, where she has led the development of innovative programs in global education, experiential learning and international partnerships. Since July 2025, she has also served as Provost’s Faculty Fellow for international partnerships and programs.

In her new role, Duschinski will lead efforts to develop a coordinated strategy focused on international student recruitment, retention and belonging; the development of high-impact global partnerships; and the cultivation of an engaged international alumni network that supports mentorship, internships and philanthropy. She also will work to enhance global learning opportunities and support internationally engaged research and scholarship across the University.

“I am honored to take on this role at such an important time for Ohio University,” said Duschinski. “Global engagement is central to who we are as an institution and to the success of our students, faculty and alumni. I look forward to working with colleagues across campus and partners around the world to build meaningful collaborations, expand access to international opportunities, and strengthen a sense of belonging for our global community.”

A professor of anthropology, Duschinski has an extensive record of international scholarship on law, politics and culture. Since joining Ohio University in 2005, she has received numerous honors, including the University Professor Award, Graselli-Brown Teaching Award, Presidential Teacher Award, and Global Engagement Award. She also has served on key University committees, including the Dynamic Strategy Implementation Committee, Curriculum Globalization Committee, and the University International Council, where she is concluding her term as chair.
