OHIO University Athletics announces "Stand Up for OHIO Football" initiative

OHIO University Athletics has announced the launch of "Stand Up for OHIO Football," a fundraising initiative designed to support the future of the OHIO football program, focusing on facility upgrades and renovations, player development and recruitment, and nutrition.

“This transformational initiative positions OHIO Football to continue building a championship-caliber program while creating meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes to grow and succeed on and off the field,” Director of Athletics Slade Larscheid said. “Stand Up for OHIO Football will provide critical support for future generations of Bobcats by investing in facilities, recruitment, development and the overall student-athlete experience. In addition, our goal is to mirror the success of Stand Up for OHIO Football and launch future initiatives for all sports.”

This initiative is possible thanks to a foundational gift from former Bobcat student-athlete and longtime OHIO University leader Donny and Tricia Harrison, whose commitment and leadership helped bring the initiative to life.

"The landscape of college football is rapidly evolving,” said Harrison. "Our student athletes need and deserve our support in this moment, and I am confident with your help we can continue to elevate our position as a nationally leading, student-focused, championship program.”

Ahead of the Bobcats’ season opener at Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 5, the initiative has raised $3 million to date through generous foundational donors.

"In the ever-changing college football landscape, initiatives like Stand Up for OHIO Football are what allow great programs to foster continued success," Head Football Coach John Hauser said. "This campaign is about maintaining a high level of excellence on and off the field. Sustained success takes continuous work, and we appreciate the support of so many alumni, community members and fans. To all who have had a part or will have a part in Stand Up for OHIO Football: thank you."

The campaign is centered on three core priorities:

  • Facilities enhancements: Renovations, upgrades and improvements at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium.
  • Recruitment and player development: Expanded support through name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities and enhanced recruiting resources.
  • Student-athlete wellness: Nutrition, leadership development and student-athlete programming.

OHIO Football enters the 2026 season with significant momentum after seven straight bowl victories and a 2024 Mid-American Conference championship. Fans, donors and supporters are encouraged to contribute to the campaign as OHIO Football continues building toward sustained championship success on the field while investing in the long-term development of its student-athletes.
