Governor DeWine appoints Giles Allen to Ohio University Board of Trustees

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has appointed Ohio University alumnus Giles Allen to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.

Allen was appointed by Gov. DeWine on July 11, 2026, and his term will end May 13, 2032.

“On behalf of the Ohio University Board of Trustees, I am delighted to welcome Giles Allen to the Board," said OHIO Board Chairman Matthew Evans. "His distinguished career in public service, government relations and law, combined with his longstanding connection to Ohio University as an alumnus, makes him a tremendous addition to our Board. I am confident his experience and perspective will help strengthen the University as we continue to serve our students, our communities and the state of Ohio."

Allen is an attorney and lobbyist serving on Capitol Square in Columbus. Before entering private practice, he served as Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for Governor Mike DeWine, where he was a member of the Governor's senior staff, advising the governor, lieutenant governor and cabinet on legislative strategy and public policy. He also helped lead the Governor's legislative and policy teams, as well as the staff of the Common Sense Initiative (CSI) in the Governor’s office. 

In addition, Giles has developed and cultivated strong and important relationships with the Ohio General Assembly leadership and members, and various stakeholders around Ohio.

Prior to joining the Governor's Office, Allen served as an assistant attorney general in the Ohio Attorney General's Office, counseling various state agencies, as well as boards and commissions, and representing them in legal hearings While attending Capital University Law School, he worked in both the criminal and civil divisions of the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office.

A graduate of Ohio University, Allen was active in political campaigns and public service during and after his time as a student, building a foundation for his career in state government and public policy.

Giles currently lives in Dublin, Ohio with his fiancée, Abby.
