OHIO faculty, staff asked to share information about alumni volunteers

Ohio University’s Division of University Advancement is asking faculty and staff to share information about alumni who volunteered during fiscal year 2026 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).

Alumni volunteer contributions can take many forms, including guest speaking in classes, mentoring students, serving on advisory committees, participating in career programs or assisting with events such as Commencement and Homecoming.

The initiative supports a national alumni engagement study conducted through the Ohio University Alumni Association (OUAA).

“Bobcat alumni make a meaningful impact across the University through their time, talent and expertise,” said Jenn Bowie, executive director of the OUAA. “Whether they are mentoring students, sharing professional insights or supporting University events, alumni remain deeply invested in OHIO. Faculty and staff play an important role in helping us capture those contributions and tell that story.”

Alumni volunteers are essential partners in advancing Ohio University’s mission and contribute directly to the goals outlined in the OHIO’s Dynamic Strategy. Their involvement strengthens the Engage Pillar by fostering mentorship, volunteer service and deeper alumni connections.

In addition to enriching the student experience, alumni volunteers help strengthen OHIO’s reputation, expand professional networks and enhance the University’s appeal to prospective students, families and supporters.

As part of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Alumni Engagement Metrics study, the survey helps institutions measure and benchmark alumni engagement across four key areas: volunteerism, experiential engagement, communications and philanthropy.

Ohio University has seen continued growth in alumni engagement in recent years.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit volunteer information by Aug. 31, 2026, to help ensure the most complete and accurate reporting for FY26.
