Ohio University, UAOU reach important milestone in faculty collective bargaining negotiations

Ohio University and the United Academics of Ohio University (UAOU) continue to make substantive progress toward OHIO’s first faculty collective bargaining agreement and have reached an important milestone, as the University has reviewed and responded to all contract articles, including compensation and other outstanding contractual items that have financial components, proposed by UAOU.

While there is still work to be done before an agreement is reached, the University remains actively engaged in the bargaining process and focused on reaching a contract that supports faculty while advancing OHIO’s academic mission and long-term institutional success.

University leadership has been encouraged by the meaningful progress made thus far. Over the course of more than 27 negotiation sessions, the University and UAOU have discussed a wide range of contractual matters, exchanged proposals and counterproposals, and reached tentative agreements on numerous non-economic provisions.

While specific discussions that occur during collective bargaining meetings will remain private as required by Ohio law, the University will continue to provide updates regarding the overall progress of negotiations as appropriate.
