Public course syllabus search now available for Ohio University undergraduate courses
As the fall semester begins, Ohio University has launched its new public course syllabus search, providing students, families, prospective students and the public with access to key syllabus information for undergraduate courses in accordance with the Advance Ohio Higher Education Act (Ohio Revised Code ยง3345.029).
The new public search is populated through Concourse Syllabus, a tool integrated within Canvas that enables instructors to complete the state-required course syllabus while continuing to use Canvas to manage their courses. The implementation follows months of planning, a faculty-led pilot, and campus-wide collaboration among the Provost's Office, the Office of Instructional Design, the University Registrar and Information Technology.
Faculty teaching undergraduate courses entered five required syllabus elements through the Concourse course syllabus tool in Canvas:
- Instructor name
- Professional qualifications
- Course calendar outlining topics and materials with anticipated timing
- Required and/or recommended readings
- Religious accommodations statement
The public course syllabus search is now available at Undergraduate Course Syllabi.
The searchable site helps students make informed decisions about their academic experience while meeting the State of Ohio's requirement that public universities make specific undergraduate syllabus information publicly available. Search results can be filtered by course, subject, keyword(s) and other criteria, making it easier to locate course syllabi across the University.
Support continues throughout the semester
Faculty who have questions or need assistance with Concourse Syllabus can continue to access support from the Office of Instructional Design.
Resources include:
- Faculty guides and documentation

The successful launch of the public course syllabus site reflects Ohio University's commitment to providing transparent course information while implementing new state requirements in a way that integrates with existing faculty workflows and supports student success.
