In this episode of In a Nutshell, immersive audio and cinematic virtual reality specialist Jordan Herron takes us inside Ohio University’s Grid Lab for a look at the spaces, technology and opportunities available to students.
The tour includes the Immersive Audio Suite, XR Lab classroom and Motion Capture Suite, where students can work with professional-level tools while putting what they learn in the classroom into practice. Along the way, Herron highlights equipment ranging from binaural audio and 360-degree video kits to motion capture suits and a VR system that lets users physically walk through virtual environments.
Students also have opportunities to take part in professional-level projects outside the classroom, building experience they can apply to careers in fields ranging from video games to medicine and themed entertainment.
