OHIO to celebrate Family Weekend with special events, performances

Ohio University will hold a series of special events for family members and friends this weekend for the annual Family Weekend celebration

Family Weekend 2026, which will be held Sept. 25-27, will feature concerts and performances, a Bobcat Family Welcome, athletic events and a wide range of events for people of all ages. You can see the full list of events here.

Family Weekend is part of a series of special weekends OHIO hosts throughout the year. Other special weekends during the 2026-27 academic year include:

• Dads Weekend – Nov. 6-8, 2-26
• Sibs Weekend – Feb. 5-7, 2027
• Moms Weekend – April 2-4,  2027

Events taking place throughout the weekend

Cats' Cupboard Donation Drive – All weekend at the Baker University Center, Third Floor Atrium. The Cats’ Cupboard will hold a donation drive throughout the weekend to support the food pantry. You can find more information on the food pantry here.

Family Weekend Open Pickleball and Golf – All weekend at the Golf and Tennis Center. 

Clue The Movie – Friday and Saturday at the Athena Cinema. You can find more information here.

D2 Hockey Family Weekend - Cheer on Ohio University D2 Hockey during their weekend games at Bird Ice Arena. Tickets are $5 and available for purchase at the door.

Friday, Sept. 25

OHIO Field Hockey vs. Appalachian State – 3 p.m. at Pruitt Field. You can find more information here.

OHIO Baseball vs. Hocking College – 4 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium. You can find more information here.

Commuter Family Feud – 5 p.m. at Jefferson Hall Room 160. Enjoy snacks, laughs and a fun competition.

Bobcat Family Welcome – 6-7:30 p.m. on the College Green. Bobcat Families are invited to kick off Family Weekend by joining Interim Vice President for Student Life Kathy Fahl, Interim Dean of Students Scott Bye, and members of the Bobcat Family Council for a special welcome reception on OHIO’s iconic College Green.’

Comedian Zoltan Kaszasm – 8-10 p.m.  at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.  Zoltan Kaszas is an award-winning stand-up comedian known for his sharp, observational humor and love of cats. You can find more information and purchase tickets here.

Saturday, Sept. 26

Open Zipline Family Weekend – 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Challenge Course at the Ridges. You can find registration information here.

Bobcat Depot Tent Sale – 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Ping Recreation Center lawn. Visit the Bobcat Depot Tent Sale for OHIO apparel and merchandise up to 45% off.

Family Weekend Pilates – 11 a.m. at the Ping Recreation Center. This session is free.

Family Weekend Tie Dye and Tailgate – 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Ping Recreation Center lawn. 

OHIO Football vs. Stonehill – 3:30 p.m.  at Peden Stadium. You can find more information here.

American Pops Orchestra: The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly – 4-5 p.m.  at Glidden Hall. The American Pops Orchestra makes Athens its final stop on a regional tour of schools and communities around the region.

Ashley McBryde (OHIO LIVE) – 8 p.m. at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Grammy, ACM, and CMA award-winning Grand Ole Opry member Ashley McBryde performs at OHIO for Family Weekend. You can find more information and purchase tickets here.

Sunday, Sept. 27

Bingo and Bagels – 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Baker University Center Ballroom.  Join UPC for this free event where you can enjoy bagels, other tasty breakfast foods, and plenty of chances to yell "BINGO!"  

Rec Skate Family Weekend – 2:30-4 p.m. at Bird Arena. Enjoy an afternoon of skating at Bird Ice Arena. You can find information on admission prices and skate rentals here.
