OHIO community invited to submit nominations for teaching awards

Ohio University is seeking nominations for 2026-27 teaching awards.

The Presidential Teacher Award is open to full-time, tenured (associate professor or professor) faculty from any of Ohio University’s campuses. Presidential Teachers implement highly effective teaching practices and innovations, influence the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues and engage in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

The Rising Star Award is open to full-time, tenure-track but not yet tenured faculty from any of the University's campuses. Rising Stars engage in scholarly teaching and make visible a true commitment to the academic success of learners in their classrooms and in their disciplines. 

The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is open to full-time, instructional and clinical (non-tenure track) faculty from any of the University's campuses. Award winners demonstrate excellence in teaching, including teaching practices and innovations, influence curriculum, mentor students and colleagues and engage with teaching scholarship.

All Ohio University faculty, alumni and students may make nominations for these three awards.

The University Professor Award recognizes outstanding teaching at the University. Nominations for this award come from the student body, and a student selection committee selects up to four University Professors annually. University Professors then have the freedom to develop and teach a course of their choosing during the following year as a means of enriching the undergraduate curriculum.

Nominations for all awards are due by Oct. 15. Submission nomination for each award can be found on the award websites.
