OHIO MSA Students Kick Off Fundraising Efforts on Giving Tuesday
Students in the Master of Sports Administration program raise over $3,500 for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Giving Tuesday.
To celebrate Giving Tuesday, students in the Master of Sport Administration(MSA) program launched their fundraising efforts to support cystic ibrosis research, raising more than $3,500.
For the past nine years, the program has raised money in conjunction with their OhioHealth Race for a Reason event. The race raised over $55,000 for 58 “reasons” last year, but has set a goal to eclipse $80,000 this year.
Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. To join the fight against the hereditary disease, MSA students took to their social media channels, as well as a partnership with Pigskin Bar and Grille.
To support fundraising for the 2020 Race For a Reason, MSA students are organized into two teams that support Cystic Fibrosis initiatives, near and dear to the program.
Since the inception of Race of a Reason in 2006, the MSA program has developed a special bond with Sean Squires. Sean’s connection to the #OHIOFamily continues to serve as an inspiration for the program. Sean, who currently lives in New York City, is a music producer and DJ.
The MSA program has raised over $100,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Sean's name since 2006, and is looking to build on that success this year.
Lilly is a local girl who was born with cystic fibrosis. Tragically, Lilly lost her father, Daryn, in a car accident just a week before Christmas in 2015, leaving her mother, Kathy, to care and provide for Lilly on her own.
For the ninth consecutive year, graduate students of the MSA program are honoring Daryn and supporting Kathy and Lilly through their support of Lilly’s Sunshine.
Following a successful Giving Tuesday, the MSA program hopes to build on their early momentum and continue the fight against Cystic Fibrosis!
