Dianne Bouvier to retire after 30 years at OHIO

Dr. Dianne Bouvier, associate director for university accessibility, will retire on Aug. 31 after 30 years of service at Ohio University.

Bouvier has served in various capacities in her time at OHIO, from her first position as the student services coordinator in the School of Art, to her roles as university ombuds, interim director, ADA coordinator, and Title IX coordinator in Institutional Equity; and director for equal opportunity and accessibility and ADA coordinator in University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance; to her current position as associate director for university accessibility. Before coming to Ohio University, Bouvier served as the assistant director for the YMCA Retired Senior Volunteer Program in New Haven, Connecticut.

Highlights of Bouvier’s career at OHIO included working toward the establishment of the Women’s Center on campus and parental leave policies for faculty and graduate students. She also had a pivotal role in developing standards for single user accessible restrooms, partnering with OIT to put the accessible technology policy in place, and collaborating across campus on providing lactation spaces.

In 2019 the Ohio University Women’s Center recognized Bouvier’s work with a Social Justice in the Workplace Award. She was honored as an Outstanding Administrator by the Ohio University Administrative Senate in 2016-17.

In the community, Bouvier serves as president of the Board of Passion Works Studio and secretary and mayor’s designee on the City Commission for Disabilities.

University College invites the OHIO community to join in celebrating Bouvier’s contributions to Ohio University during her 30 years of service by submitting a brief congratulatory message to bouvier@ohio.edu or by “dropping in” on a Teams virtual reception on Friday, Aug. 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Individuals who wished to honor Bouvier with a gift may make a donation to Passion Works Studio or Calliope Feminist Choir.
