Ohio University announces voluntary separation retirement plan incentive strategy

Today, the Ohio University Board of Trustees approved a resolution authorizing President Hugh Sherman, or his designee, in consultation with the Chair of the Board of Trustees, to develop a voluntary separation retirement program for Athens campus faculty to respond to changing enrollment patterns and the need for greater flexibility with financial and strategic decisions.

University leadership will develop and release additional details about the voluntary program on or before Nov. 1, 2021. The option to participate in a voluntary separation retirement plan (VSRP) will be extended within strategically identified academic areas for eligible tenure-track faculty members as well as administrative staff with academic rank of tenured professor or tenured associate professor. The plan is anticipated to open in January 2022.

The 2022 voluntary separation retirement plan is a one-time, mutually beneficial program that provides eligible employees incentives for an accelerated departure. Eligibility will be determined based upon the University's instructional capacity, enrollment patterns, and strategic needs.

More information about the voluntary separation plan can be found at www.ohio.edu/hr.
