Minimum wage rate increases Jan. 1
Effective Jan. 1, 2022, the minimum wage for non-tipped employees will increase to $9.30 per hour (up $0.50 from current rate of $8.80) and for tipped employees the minimum wage will be $4.65 per hour (up $0.25 from the current rate of $4.40).
Departments do not need to adjust the employees’ pay rate to the new minimum wage rate in WorkForce. Payroll will make the necessary adjustments as part of the annual calendar year updates and the new rate will be reflected during the pay period ending Jan. 1, 2022, that pays on Jan. 12, 2022.
Any student employee already at the $9.30 rate will not receive an increase. If a department chooses to give an increase to anyone already at the $9.30 rate, they must edit the WorkForce assignment to do so.
Please note that there will be no central funding provided to departments for this minimum wage adjustment. Departments will need to account for this increase in their budgeting processes.
