Ohio University Vice President of Communications and Marketing Robin Oliver receives national distinction as one of 2022’s Top Women in Public Relations

Ohio University Vice President of Communications and Marketing Robin Oliver is a change-maker. Appointed as OHIO’s first-ever vice president of communications and marketing in July 2019, in just three short years, Oliver has helped to transform the reputation of the state’s oldest public University.

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed. On September 7, 2022, Oliver, who has served as a leader in public relations and marketing for nearly 20 years, will be honored by PR News as one of the Top Women in PR in the change-maker category at an awards gala in New York City.

Oliver has unified OHIO’s brand while leading transformational change that has elevated OHIO’s national reputation. Her efforts have resulted in helping to recruit one of the largest freshman classes in University history in Fall 2022.

“During her time at Ohio University, Robin has made a tremendous impact,” President Hugh Sherman said. “The most important thing we’ve seen is the turnaround in our enrollment. She’s also recruited and developed an exceptionally talented team that has achieved real results that have the respect of the entire organization.”

Oliver was nominated for this honor by her colleagues at Ohio University.

Donna Gallo, who currently serves as senior director of content marketing for University Communications and Marketing (UCM), previously worked with Oliver at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Gallo joined UCM shortly after Oliver’s appointment.

“Robin is an inspirational leader,” Gallo said. “She has the keen ability to build and foster a community of respect no matter the role. Additionally, she has provided a creative outlet for her staff to pursue their strengths and interests.”

Oliver earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Music Performance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she received her Masters of Business Administration from North Carolina State University.

She resides in Guysville, Ohio with her husband, Wade, and son, Woody. In her free time, she raises and breeds goats.
