Ohio University Chillicothe announces spring semester community workshops
Interested in learning a new skill or flexing your creative muscles? Ohio University Chillicothe offers a series of popular community education classes and workshops that allow participants to learn, explore and create. Community Education workshops are open to the public and welcome all ages unless otherwise noted.
OHIO Chillicothe’s Community Education series includes workshops that involve basket weaving, candle making, needle felting, cocktail making, hiking, painting, and more.
“I appreciate Ohio University Chillicothe for taking an active role in enriching the lives of people in our town,” said participant Adrienne Boggs. “I have taken so many different Continuing Education Workshops at Ohio University Chillicothe and they have all been fantastic. I have had the opportunity to learn new skills like basket weaving, candle making, and working with wool…I can also make some pretty good cocktails too! Along with these new experiences, I also got to meet new folks and reconnect with old friends. These workshops are a jewel in our community!”
Spring workshops kick off on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, with Valentine’s Night In, led by Tara Gillum, Ohio University alumna and owner of Steiner’s Speakeasy. Throughout the spring semester, there are many opportunities to learn, explore and create. Featured classes will include several cocktail-making sessions with Tara Gillum, candle-making with Emma Martin, basket-making with Melodee Caudill, songwriting with Bruce Dalzell, and hiking with Kim Lafreniere.
“The basket workshops have been fun and instructive,” said Beverly Crabtree. “The instructor is knowledgeable and approachable. I look forward to taking more classes.”
“We’re pleased to welcome community members from Chillicothe and the surrounding area to participate in these community workshops that offer a little something for everyone, whether you are looking to try something new, or hone your skills at something you already enjoy,” said Administrative Assistant Ann Holmes, who coordinates the workshops.
