Ohio Innovation Tour webinar to feature 'Intel + Higher Education in Southeast Ohio' on March 29

The Ohio Innovation Tour will host a webinar featuring recent awardees of the Intel Semiconductor Education and Research Program for Ohio on March 29 at noon.

This virtual panel presentation, "Intel + Higher Education in Southeast Ohio," will showcase education, research, and economic development initiatives in southeastern Ohio, including the new Appalachian Semiconductor Education and Technical Ecosystem (ASCENT). Ohio University was awarded Intel grant funding and is the lead organization in a multi-university effort aimed at growing a STEM-focused workforce to fuel the advanced manufacturing sector in Ohio.

Intel’s expansion in Ohio is expected to attract additional semiconductor companies, supply chain partners and other manufacturers. This new partnership also provides transformational workforce development efforts for education, training and research across the higher education and industry ecosystem.

Industry-university partnerships such as ASCENT represent a continuum of activities which drive economic growth, build capacity for local businesses and expand career opportunities for students and working professionals.

ASCENT is comprised of a broad coalition of institutions, colleges and technical centers across the southeastern Appalachian region of Ohio. Each will play a vital role in the visualization, delivery and programming of the overall ASCENT Ecosystem. Ohio University, including its Athens, Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern and Zanesville campuses, is partnering with Belmont College, Eastland-Fairfield Career Center, Hocking College, Marietta College, Mid-East Career and Technology Center, Shawnee State University, Tri-County Career Center and Zane State College on the ASCENT program.

This webinar is sponsored by the Ohio Innovation Exchange and co-hosted by OhioX.
