Professor Tingyue Gu named new editor-in-chief of journal, Bioresources and Bioprocessing

Russ College professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Tingyue Gu, has been named the new editor-in-chief of the journal Bioresources and Bioprocessing. Bioresources and Bioprocessing is a peer-reviewed journal published by Springer with an impact factor of 4.983 and is aimed at promoting research to support bioresource development, processing and utilization in a sustainable manner.

“I joined the editorial board because of my desire of service to the research community. Editors and reviewers spend their valuable time on our own publications. Thus, we are obligated to serve others in return,” said Gu in an interview with Bioresources and Bioprocessing.

Internationally, Gu is known for his work on chromatography modeling and scale-up. He authored the chromatography simulation package Chromulator, used by dozens of university researchers in more than thirty countries, and by several major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He also has carried out research in protein purification, as well as in fungal and bacterial fermentation. His latest research focus is on corrosion caused by environmental microbes.

“Professor Gu’s commitment to bioengineering has not only had a tremendous impact on the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University, but also the field of bioengineering. On behalf of the Russ College, we are pleased to see his efforts recognized in his new role as the editor-in-chief of Bioresources and Bioprocessing,” said Maj Mirmirani, Interim Dean of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology.
