Kelnhofer named education program assistant for OHIO Eastern and Zanesville

Jeanine Kelnhofer was recently named education program assistant at the Ohio University Eastern and Zanesville regional campuses.

In her new position ,Kelnhofer secures clinical placements in community schools and early childhood education programs, maintains records for field work and supports field work experience for students at the OHIO Eastern and OHIO Zanesville campuses. She also supports faculty from OHIO's Patton College of Education as needed to assist with relevant tasks and projects.

“Today’s students require teachers who are skilled in diversity,” Kelnhofer said. “I enjoy mentoring pre-service teachers in this area, helping them to develop various differentiation techniques which will allow for the holistic engagement of all students in their classrooms.”

Kelnhofer, who began her teaching career in 1993, brings three decades of experience to the campuses. She plans to draw on her experiences in the field as an instructor to foster the development of future educators enrolled at Ohio University. 

“I have known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be a teacher. Both my parents were educators. My mother was a fourth grade teacher, and my father was a high school teacher, principal and then an administrator,” Kelnhofer said. “Some would say that my career in education was foretold, it was in my genes.” 

Kelnholfer’s teaching style has been described by colleagues as energetic, engaging and exemplary. 

“I am excited to join a strong academic team that is dedicated to developing high quality future educators,” Kelnhofer said. “Being offered this position to serve on two OHIO regional campuses has fulfilled a personal professional dream of mine. I am thoroughly enjoying all that I do to support the education departments on both campuses.”
