Discover the past and inspire the future with 'A HERStory of Women in Physical Activity and Sport'

Ohio University Zanesville invites the community to a presentation titled "A HERStory of Women in Physical Activity and Sport," highlighting the unique and often untold stories of women's participation and contributions to sports and physical activity over the years. This event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, in the Elson Hall Auditorium.

Kathy Normansell

Kathy Normansell, Sport and Lifestyle Studies Program coordinator and professor of instruction at Ohio University Zanesville will lead the presentation. Attendees will dive into fascinating aspects of women's history in sports, debunking myths and sharing truths about the physical and social challenges women have faced and overcome.

Those in attendance will learn about the myth of the "bicycle face," a humorous yet historical concern that women would develop protruding eyes from too much pedaling, and explore how the original rules of basketball were modified for women, restricting their movement to only one-third of the court due to fears of physical strain.

Don't miss this chance to delve into the stories of resilience, determination, and empowerment that have shaped the landscape of women in sports and physical activity. Mark your calendars for an evening of education, inspiration, and community engagement.  This event is open for everyone from the community to attend.
