AmeriCorps panel discussion set for April 4

Ohio University students are invited to learn more about AmeriCorps during a panel discussion on Thursday, April 4.

OHIO’s Center for Community Engagement will host a panel discussion focused on local opportunities to serve with AmeriCorps with program alumni and managers. The program will be held from 5 – 6 p.m. in the Baker University Center Multicultural Center room 213. In addition, there will be a virtual option for the program. Those interested in attending online or in person are encouraged to visit this website for more information. 

Panelists for the event will include members from Ohio University Center for Community Engagement, Rural Action, Ohio University’s AmeriCorps program COMCorps, Ohio History Service Corps, and Ohio Outdoor Corps.

AmeriCorps is a full time national service opportunity for enthusiastic people who want to gain full-time real-world experience and make a difference in communities of need. This session will focus on local programs, but there are opportunities in all states. Position placements include nonprofit organizations, agencies, schools, and community-based programs.

Members receive a modest living allowance and an educational award that can be used for federal student loans or future education expenses. Other benefits include healthcare, childcare assistance, service-related budgets, and networking and training opportunities.

Opportunities include summer positions and year-round positions. Applicants do not need to be current students.
