College of Business names John Naughton as assistant dean

Ohio University’s College of Business has named John Naughton as the new assistant dean for Business Academic Advising and Career Services.

In this role, Naughton will work closely with the Dean’s Office, departments and centers in the College of Business to lead efforts to put into place innovative student success best practices and solutions to reach all business students. The assistant dean will play a pivotal role in the college’s focus on providing a supportive and enriching academic environment that enables students to excel academically, develop professionally, and achieve their career goals.

In addition, Naughton will lead Business Academic Advising and Career Services (BAACS), which serves as a bridge between the educational and professional goals of Business Bobcats through academic advising, career development, and employer relations initiatives.

Naughton has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and most recently served as the vice president for enrollment management and student success at Ohio Dominican University. 

“John has built his career on enhancing the academic experiences of students at multiple institutions. We look forward to aligning his ideas and best practices with the student-focused strategic plan of the College of Business,” said Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Assessment Jim Strode.

Naughton earned his MBA and a bachelor’s of science in marketing from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia. He will begin his new role at OHIO on Dec. 9.
