OHIO community invited to provide feedback on vendors for major technology upgrades

Ohio University is evaluating technology vendors for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernization initiative, and all faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate. Your feedback will play a vital role in selecting a system that best aligns with future needs.

If you use systems such as Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, MyOHIO Student Center, Concur, BobcatBuy, Workforce, Faculty and Advising Center, OCEAN, or other software connected to these systems, your expertise and input is invaluable to the selection process. While this phase of modernization will focus on human resources and finance systems, there will also be a preview of potential student information systems technology, which will be the focus of a future phase.

Between March 18-28, vendors will present in-depth demonstrations of their technology and answer specific questions from campus users.

If you were unable to attend the high-level vendor sessions in February, please watch the recordings of each session and submit the feedback forms with your questions, concerns, and hopes for the new systems. This feedback will be used to finalize the March vendor sessions.

The full schedules for the March visits are available on the ERP vendor demonstration website (requires OHIO ID to view), and you may select individual sessions to attend or download an .ics file to add all meeting details to your calendar. These sessions will also be recorded.

More details about the ERP modernization initiative

The ERP modernization initiative will benefit all students, faculty, and staff and impact nearly every aspect of OHIO’s operations—from processing payroll and awarding scholarships to enrolling students and managing research funds.

The initiative is the result of an in-depth assessment and aims to modernize the technology and business processes OHIO uses to manage its operations. The first phase, which includes human resources and financial systems, was approved by the OHIO Board of Trustees in January 2025. Plans for student administrative system improvements will be determined based on ongoing assessments and evolving technology.

This initiative is more than about upgrading technology - it’s about modernizing the way OHIO operates. Expected benefits include:

  • Adaptability to change: Flexibility to respond quickly to evolving needs and take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Improved user experience: Modern, intuitive tools that simplify tasks, integrate workflows, and free up time for more meaningful work.
  • Better decision-making: Access to timely, accurate data insights and information to support both long-term planning and day-to-day operations.
  • Increased effectiveness: Streamlined processes through simplification, standardization, and automation.
  • Enhanced security and resilience: Strengthened compliance measures, improved data security, and robust support for business continuity.
