OHIO community invited to April 14 Earth Day events

Ohio University will celebrate Earth Day with a series of events for students, faculty, staff and area residents on Monday, April 14, from 12-4 p.m. in the Walter Hall Rotunda.
The celebration of campus and community sustainability efforts is part of the Earth Day celebrations being held around the world. The International Earth Day Network collaborates with partners in more than 192 countries to support environmental protection and peace.
Hosted by the Office of Sustainability, the Earth Day activities at Ohio University are free and open to the public.
This celebration will highlight the efforts made toward environmental sustainability in the community. During the afternoon events, local and University organizations will offer education on environmental efforts and involvement.
Those in attendance will hear from keynote speaker OHIO Professor Geoff Dabelko, Athens Mayor Steve Patterson, poets Stephanie Kendrick and Wendy McVicker, and OHIO Sustainability Hub faculty coordinators.
The event will also celebrate the announcement of the 2025 Sustainability Award recipients and the observance of Arbor Day. In addition, a free thrift store will be open and an EV Showcase will be held across the street at Peden Stadium from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will also enjoy music from local band The Houseguest.
