Ohio University Chillicothe to host third annual prevention conference

Ohio University Chillicothe will host their third annual prevention conference on June 13, 2025. The theme of this year’s conference is Rooted in Wellness: Holistic Approaches to Prevention in Southern Ohio.
Social workers, counselors, chemical dependency counselors, teachers, law enforcement, healthcare professionals and others interested in creating a safe and healthy community are invited to attend the free conference, which will take place in Bennett Hall on the campus of Ohio University Chillicothe.
The conference will focus on exploring a broad range of holistic approaches to prevention, with a particular emphasis on the resilience of youth who may face higher risks—such as LGBTQ youth, those who have experienced abuse or neglect, and other at-risk groups. Presenters will share evidence-based practices, community-driven solutions, and creative ideas that support youth in navigating and overcoming challenges.
This conference is made possible through a partnership between Ohio University Chillicothe’s Department of Social Work, the HOPE Partnership Project Youth Coalition, Paint Valley ADAMH, the Appalachian Children’s Coalition, and the Ohio Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Prevention and Promotion, with support from First Capital Cornerstone of Change. Participants may earn up to 6 continuing education credits at no cost, depending on which sessions they attend. Conference sessions begin at 9 a.m.
“The Rooted in Wellness Conference is more than an event—it's a movement. In a region rich with resilience, we're coming together to nurture healing, celebrate diversity, and empower our communities with holistic tools for lifelong wellness.” said organizer Stacey Saunders-Adams, associate professor of social work at OHIO Chillicothe “We want to plants seeds of hope, connection, and transformation across Southern Ohio."
The conference will feature local and state experts passionate about empowering the next generation. Sessions will explore innovative, holistic strategies to promote resilience in youth and prevent future challenges. Community members will connect, learn, and be inspired by leaders dedicated to shaping a stronger and brighter future for youth in our communities.
