University Libraries obtains unlimited storage space in Zotero for all Ohio University users

Ohio University Libraries is pleased to announce that all students, faculty, staff and alumni with an active Ohio University email address now have unlimited storage space in Zotero for their research sources.

Zotero is an open-source reference management tool that streamlines the process for collecting, organizing, citing and sharing research sources.

Zotero provides online storage space for users' Zotero files, allowing them to synchronize PDFs, images, web snapshots and other files among all their devices.

Members of the OHIO community can also share Zotero attachments in group libraries and access files via their online library on zotero.org.

Any Zotero user who has an active ohio.edu email address associated with their account will now see in their settings that they have unlimited storage provided by Ohio University. This unlimited storage will continue for the user as long as the user has a verified ohio.edu address associated with their Zotero account (whether primary or secondary).

If you already have a Zotero account, and are not using your Ohio University email address, simply go into your account preferences and add your ohio.edu email address as either the primary or secondary address associated with your account.

Jourdan Corbitt, scholarly impact and social sciences librarian, said that the addition of unlimited storage is yet another item on a long list of valuable benefits available with this tool.

“Zotero is an industry leader in citation management systems,” Corbitt said. “This easy-to-use tool already enables researchers to easily manage and cite the mountain of sources and their corresponding metadata that inevitably accumulates during research. And now university-affiliated users won’t have to worry about running up against storage limits, saving them even more time, effort, and funds.”
