Stay safe from cybersecurity threats

Cybersecurity is a huge national issue in the U.S., and it is also an issue that affects each of us in our daily lives.

At Ohio University, students, faculty, staff and community members need to be aware of cybersecurity threats and how to protect themselves. And by protecting yourself, you are also protecting Ohio University and the entire OHIO community from cybersecurity issues.

These threats come in emails, phone calls and texts, or you may see them when conducting research, traveling with your computer, doing holiday shopping or enjoying online gaming.

In order to help you stay safe, Ohio University’s Information Security Office, within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), will be sharing a series of informational articles throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. These short articles will be designed to help you avoid problems, as well as give you information on what you can do if you encounter cybersecurity issues.

You can watch for the articles on the OHIO Today website, on the Office of Information Technology website or in the OHIO Employee News emails.

And any time you have questions about cybersecurity, you are encouraged to contact the Information Security Office. You can find contact information at this website, call 740-566-SAFE (7233) or email security@ohio.edu
