OHIO’s Information Security Office is here to help you

Ohio University’s Information Security Office works behind the scenes every day to help keep students, faculty and staff safe.
Because cybersecurity issues are a significant threat, the Information Security Office educates students, faculty and staff about these issues and also empowers members of the University community to appropriately manage risks. This work helps to protect OHIO’s information and systems, while it also protects each member of the OHIO community.
The work includes several factors, including:
- Putting into place policies, standards and an information security risk management program for students, faculty and staff.
- Providing members of the OHIO community with tools and guidance about cybersecurity issues.
- With OHIO embracing flexplace arrangements, the Information Security Office has provided guidance around securing your workspace. These resources are designed to assist the University community in staying safe online - regardless of location.
- Providing information to the OHIO community about where to safely store and share University data. These resources are intended to guide the University community to the best storage solutions depending on the type of data.
- Providing resources for students such as information on how to encrypt documents, spot malicious emails and protect their information.
- Providing information for faculty and staff on protecting OHIO data.
- Assisting researchers with data security resources. This is important for contractual and regulatory requirements, as well as to protect intellectual property.
The office’s expert staff members are dedicated to providing a safe computing environment where members of the OHIO community can teach, learn and conduct research.
