Ohio University launches exclusive OHIO Inventors Club to celebrate innovation, discovery

Ohio University has launched the OHIO Inventors Club, an elite recognition program for employees who have earned a U.S. patent for the University, celebrating their groundbreaking contributions to research, technology, and innovation.
Each inductee will receive a custom coin and lapel pin, symbolizing their creativity, perseverance, and impact.
Membership in the OHIO Inventors Club signifies a lasting impact on society through innovation and discovery. The Club serves not only as a symbol of achievement, but also as an inspiration for future generations of Bobcats to pursue bold ideas, transform research into real-world solutions, and continue Ohio University’s proud tradition of innovation.

The OHIO Inventors Club reflects Ohio University’s commitment to its Dynamic Strategy, particularly the Discover pillar, which champions the creation of new knowledge, creative expression, and the translation of ideas into meaningful societal impact.
Members of the OHIO Inventors Club will be formally recognized and celebrated at the upcoming Inventors Dinner on Oct. 23, 2025, an event dedicated to honoring Ohio University inventors and their contributions to advancing technology, creativity and discovery.
“The OHIO Inventors Club represents an elite group of innovators whose ideas have moved beyond imagination to real-world impact,” said Eric Muth, vice president for research and creative activity. “As inventors know, a patent is earned, not given. In turn, the right to carry one of these coins, or wear the lapel pin, is to earn it through an OHIO patent. This distinction truly represents the pinnacle of discovery at Ohio University.”
Through initiatives like the OHIO Inventors Club, Ohio University continues to cultivate a culture of innovation—one that empowers researchers, creators, and scholars to transform ideas into lasting impact for the region, the nation, and the world.
