OHIO’s Cats’ Cupboard Food Pantry remains available to students and employees impacted by pause in SNAP benefits during federal government shutdown

As the federal government shutdown enters its fifth week, we want to remind any OHIO students and employees who have been directly impacted by the recent pause in SNAP Benefits that the Cats’ Cupboard food pantry is available to provide access to fresh, frozen and shelf-stable food options as needed.

Cats' Cupboard Food Pantries are also accessible across each of OHIO's Regional Campus locations. Additional details for each regional campus are below.

Accessing Cats’ Cupboard in Athens

The Cats’ Cupboard Food Pantry offers twice-monthly, in-person shopping for free food to all OHIO students, faculty and staff. Signing up for access and scheduling a visit can be completed online using your OHIO email and PID number. Please note: All visits are by appointment only.

Making a Donation to Cats’ Cupboard in Athens

If you’re interested in helping a fellow Bobcat during this time, there are numerous ways to make a donation in support of Cats’ Cupboard:

Food Donations

Food donations are always needed; Cats’ Cupboard requires that:

  • All items must have labels
  • All items must be sealed
  • No homemade goods are allowed, including baked goods and home-canned items
  • Expired food items cannot be accepted; please check the expiration dates of everything that you plan to donate

Monetary Donations

Your support makes a real difference: A donation of $25 can provide an individual with a three-day supply of emergency food. A donation of $75 can provide an individual and two children with a three-day supply of emergency food.

  • Monetary donations to Cats’ Cupboard can be made online through OHIO’s Giving Page.
  • Food purchases for Cats’ Cupboard can be made through Amazon using the Cupboard’s Amazon Food Pantry Needs list.
  • Employees interested in providing recurring support through a payroll deduction may easily do so by completing an online form and selecting the “Division of Student Affairs Food Pantry Support Fund.”
