Ping Recreation Center offers summer discounts for students, faculty, staff, community members
Ohio University’s Charles J. Ping Recreation Center is offering its summer membership discount for only $45 from May 4 to Aug. 14, 2026.
Memberships are open to the Athens community, Ohio University faculty and staff, and OHIO students not enrolled for the summer semester. The price will not be prorated throughout the summer. Anyone can purchase the membership through this Ping Center webpage, in-person at the Ping Recreation Center front desk or by calling 740.593.9901.
“This is an amazing opportunity for the whole Athens community,” said Meagan Day, assistant director of member services and engagement at the Ping Recreation Center. “We provide a welcoming place for wellness and fitness for all."
Community members who purchase memberships also have the option to buy parking permits valid for Lot 93. The permits will be valid from May 4 to Aug. 14, and cost $30. Community members should bring their membership receipts and license information to the Transportation and Parking Services Office at 100 Factory Street, in Athens.
OHIO faculty and staff should defer to their standard options based on their employment status. However, there is a new option for monthly $15 parking permits. These may be purchased online. Students should defer to their standard options. Monthly commuter passes will be available for the summer.
“We are excited for summer and to help our community on their fitness or wellness journey,” Day said.
