Meet OHIO’s Educational Influencer
In the increasingly crowded space of online influencers, you might not expect to find an enthusiastic teacher of anatomy, physiology and health education. But for one Ohio University professor, creating content is a natural extension of the classroom.

In the increasingly crowded space of online influencers, you might not expect to find an enthusiastic teacher of anatomy, physiology and health education. But for one Ohio University professor, creating content is a natural extension of the classroom.
Ian Klein, an associate professor of instruction for biological sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, works with his TA team to manage a robust social presence across TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, with multiple areas of focus. His original account,
@professorkleinanatomy, has grown to over 130,000 followers on TikTok and features daily quizzes, anatomy breakdowns and answers to viewer questions. Another account, @anatomymodels on TikTok, provides education using detailed anatomical models and has grown to nearly 111,000 followers and 1 million likes.
“I believe in free education,” says Klein. “A lot of students, especially in rural high schools, don’t have access to high-quality anatomy models. These are vital tools, not only for inspiring students to pursue health care careers but for helping them understand how their bodies work.”
To date, Klein has created over 300 long-form YouTube videos and more than 1,000 TikTok and Instagram posts. New videos go up almost every day as his audience continues to grow and thousands more people engage with his content each week.
“Education should be accessible to everyone,” says Klein. “I’m proud to be a part of that process.”
