OHIO 2030 Planning Underway: University launches process to update, extend its Dynamic Strategy for 3 more years
As the University continues work to implement planned activities for the third year of its Dynamic Strategy, President Lori Stewart Gonzalez has charged Interim Provost John McCarthy and Vice President for University Communications and Marketing Robin Oliver to engage University leadership and stakeholders across the institution in the extension of the plan for another three years.
“The first three years of our Dynamic Strategy have created significant momentum and driven purposeful progress,” Gonzalez said. “We have expanded experiential learning opportunities for students, developed new ways for students to connect to alumni mentors, recruited new research faculty, created an Academic Health Sciences Center and broadened our health partnerships, extended professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, and much more. It’s imperative that we sustain and build on this momentum in the years ahead.”
To that end, Gonzalez has directed the members of President’s Cabinet and the Academic Deans to articulate a concise set of goals for the next three years that clarify our strategic direction as we move toward the year 2030. She has also challenged leaders to break out of any silos that may have emerged through the four-pillar structure of the first three years and consider goals that cut across pillars. Each of the outlined goals must be presented with suggested metrics.
The goals put forward by leadership will be presented to a newly charged OHIO 2030 Planning Group, which will review, revise and potentially add to the suggested goals and ultimately present a prioritized set to the President for consideration. The OHIO 2030 Planning Group will complete its work in early November. Once the goals of the plan have been finalized, Provost McCarthy and Vice President Oliver will issue a call for nominations for work groups for each goal, and those work groups will outline the strategies necessary to achieve the stated goal and positively impact the outlined metrics.
Work Groups will bring forward their planned strategies in March, a draft of the plan will be shared with the University community in April, and the plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees in June for their approval.
